SharedPlan desktop software provides you with two project editors: Visual Plan and Gantt Chart. The Gantt Chart editor is considered to be most useful when visualizing the time relationship of tasks and when you need to see multiple levels in the project. The Network Diagram is considered to be most useful when visualizing the dependencies between tasks and is also a quick and easy way to create the initial task. The good news is that you don’t have to choose between one or the other; SharedPlan allows you to switch between the two editors at any time.
Note the third tab Resource Chart which is a not editable (read only) chart showing the tasks assigned to each resource.
You can flip between them using the tab near the top.
Visual Plan Editor
The Visual Plan editor allows you to quickly plan a project and pay particular attention to the dependencies between the tasks. We'll go into much more detail on the Visual Plan editor later.
Gantt Chart Editor
The same project shown in the Gantt chart editor is shown above.
When To Use Which Editor?
The Visual Plan and Gantt Chart editors are always available to you in SharedPlan but each has unique benefits.
Visual Plan is great for quickly creating a plan and managing the dependencies between the tasks.
The Gantt Chart is a much denser presentation of project information with a timeline orientation.
You can use either whenever you would like - at SharedPlan we tend to work in Visual Plan and bounce over the the Gantt Chart for viewing the timeline.
We'll go into each in much more detail later.
