Wanted: Results
I'd be really surprised if you woke up this morning thinking - wow, today I get to use project planning software whoopee! Similarly, no one wants to buy a drill bit - you need a hole; no one wants to buy a new blender - you want a blended margarita, smoothie or milkshake.

We understand that ultimately, you want a plan that helps you accomplish a goal and that our planning software and services are means to that end. Our quick to learn tools coupled with the private and public project servers support you in getting an actionable plan together as quickly as possible and continues to support you as you execute the plan. The focus is on creating and executing the plan - not the tool!

The projects that are stored in the private project server are just that, private and you may share them as you and your team see fit. But, take a look at the ever growing range of projects in the public project server as a very fast way to get an initial plan. The range and breadth of public projects continues to amaze and gratify us and we hope you find them useful and continue to contribute your plans to the public project server - see what's popular now.

Your Response On The Last Poll
web project editor poll resultsIn the last newsletter we ran a simple, one-question poll: would you rather use a network diagram or Gantt chart for editing projects in your browser. The results are shown in the graph here and were strongly in favor of the Gantt chart. Well, I bet you can guess what product is now on our product road map!

Improvements In Our Web Services
versionsWe've just released a significant update to the private project server. You'll notice a number of user interface improvements intended to simplify your navigation through the project server and present the information you need when you need it. We've also made available to you a beta release of our new project version comparison tool (more info on project versioning). This new web service allows you to compare two versions of a project and get information on the associated changes - this is an excellent way to follow changes in a project or at project completion to look back and see what changed as the project progressed. We'll be adding additional detail in the coming weeks and at some point we may add support for merging project versions.

If you have an account in the private project server this new service is available to you now. And, as always, if you don't yet have an account in the private project server you can check out this new service using the guest account. An account in the private project server is included with all OpenPlanning and ProPlanning licenses - get your license today.

What Are You Planning? (a.k.a free advertising for you)
This newsletter is distributed to tens of thousands of people - most are in Europe, Australia, Canada and the US. We'd love to help you or your business by mentioning your efforts here. So, just drop me a piece of email with a few sentences about what you are doing and how our tools help you succeed - we'll pick one of the submissions and publish it in the next newsletter (and more in the following months if warranted). Be sure to include your website address and the link to a public plan highlighting your business if you would like those included. This would be a great way for a service or consulting company to strut their stuff.

I'm writing this on a beautiful Saturday afternoon - earlier I mentioned making margarita's - a bike ride followed by a margarita seems like a great idea. So, adios until next time.
