SharedPlan uses the Day as the unit of project scheduling. You may enter whole days (e.g. 1.0, 4, 1) and partial days (e.g. 0.25, 0.5, 1.3,…).
You may establish the working days and hours per workday in the Calendar Editor (Tools->Calendar Editor).
Specifically, the planned task duration is converted into the number of working hours (duration days x hours/day), to then determine the corresponding finish date. The first available start date for successor tasks will be the next working day.
Tasks that have not selected Fixed Start in the Task Information Editor will have their start date automatically calculated and updated depending on their predecessors latest planned finish date and associated lead and lag times.
Tasks that have selected Fixed Start are not affected by changes to their predecessors. You will rarely want to set any task other than the initial starting tasks to have fixed start dates. Tasks with a fixed start date have an “(F)” appended to the item displayed in the top left corner of the task in the Network Diagram project editor; in the Gantt Chart, tasks with a fixed start are shown preceded with “(F)” in their duration bar. In the Network Diagram editor, if a child at a lower project level has a fixed start date then a “(C)” is appended to the top left item.
When the planned start date is floating start, setting the lead time or lag time to any number will change the planned start date. A task may have either a lead time or a lag time, not both. When the planned start date is fixed start, both lead time and lag time are not available.
When the lead time is changed, the resulting start date, cannot be earlier than any of its predecessor’s start date.
